Done on a whim in advance of a Taylor tour in November of 2003, Pup! is a cute little compilation of Mike Keneally band studio outtakes, a mini-set of live MKB material, some strange Keneally home demos, and some even stranger radio-like voiceovers and promotional information spoken by Keneally himself.

The studio stuff, namely "L'il", was done at Stanley Recordings, on the same day we recorded "Astronomy Domine" for the Pink Floyd tribute album A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd. It's got the magic raw-energy outtake vibe, right down to the starts and stops and train wrecks. The live material was recorded at a venue called Palladino's in the western San Fernando Valley, and if Bourbon Square (old mid-'90s Keneally/BFD stomping grounds) was ever to have a rightful heir, this aging rocker bar is it.

My fave is a track I'm not even on: "Party Poopers". Just totally absurd.
