The
"Quartet" Tour: November, 2001

Backstage at The Bottom Line in New York City, Rick
Musallam happily monopolizes the only comfortable place to sit in
the whole dressing room. Comfort is everything to this soft-spoken
guitarist, as evidenced by his visible socks and sated smile.

A pre-show ritual spins dangerously out of control
as Nick and I turn the Bottom Line dressing room into an impromptu
session of primal screaming with a vogue twist. Presumably, Rick was
still relaxing on the couch as this occurred.

Rick was finally forced from his throne by Keneally,
only to have the rest of the band-plus Heather LaMastra-pile on top
of him. I didn't know Mike could turn that shade of red. And yes,
that's Nick in the hat.

The silliness continued after the show, where we posed
for pictures (including the one that ended up on Keneally.com for
a week or so) under the famed Bottom Line marquee. (Left to right:
Mike, Nick, myself, Rick.) In all fairness, we were still pumped up
from what I look back on as the best show of the tour-the second show
of the second night, 11/17/01. Tapers who've got that one know what
I'm talking about.
