Back to the '93 Grand Canyon trip for this shot. It was my bright idea to try and find a shortcut through the desert north of Lucerne Valley, CA so we wouldn't have to double back to the only highway that could take us to I-40, the road to Arizona. Needless to say we got lost, and did so on roads unsuitable for a '93 Eagle Summit Wagon. The sandbars were higher than the clearance of the vehicle, and I could hear sand pouring through the front grill as we nearly swerved our way off a steep embankment. At that point Chris and I turned around and counted our blessings.

Rock climbing outside of Bishop, CA in May of 1995. I could easily retire in the High Sierras of northeastern California.

But in the meantime, this will have to do--the view from my home office in my apartment in way-northern Los Angeles County. If you're wondering how I found the time and discipline to construct this unwieldy website, just remember that this is what I saw the whole time I worked on it.
