Those four-hour rehearsal days left plenty of time to
check out beautiful downtown Hilversum. The first shot
shows what a shopping center is supposed to look like
(American mall builders, take note). The second shows
what kind of special English you can expect from those
clever Dutch admen, and as for the third picture...well,
I have a special affinity for clowns.

The stage layout for the two shows at the Paradiso had
Steve at left, the conductor in the middle, and drummer
Arno and myself at right on the front edge of the stage.
Pretty damned cool.

Another straight-on shot of the stage, this one from
the right side. I really was thrilled.

Two different overhead shots of the Paradiso stage, taken
from the upper balcony. These pics were both sent to me
by kind attendees of the show - thanks are due to both
of them.

That's me with Co de Kloet, NPS Commission Editor and
Producer, in the lobby of the Paradiso before the last show.
He's been doing amazing things for the European careers
of Frank Zappa, Mike Keneally, Steve Vai, and others for
nearly twenty years, and is one of the real heroes of the
scene. All should bow down to him.

The Jewish Bassist From Jersey and The Little Italian
Virtuoso, together at last. Will it happen again? I
certainly hope so.
UPDATE: It did happen again! In June of 2005, we did
the whole thing again,
and this time had it professionally videotaped for an
full-blown DVD
release. Click
here to check out pictures posted in the Screed
Du Jour
from the triumphant "Steve Vai: Aching Hunger II"
performance.
