I've tried a lot of different recording methods over the years. Some worked, some didn't. At times it seemed like I was on some sort of quest to get the best-sounding, most easily repeatable method of getting my bass sound to tape (or hard disk, as it turns out), as if there would one day be A Perfect Way and I could mindlessly stick to the procedure no matter what. As I learned when doing my own material for the first time, there's what you think will happen, and then there's what actually happens. The process was much more organic and experimental that I'd anticipated, with different instruments, amplifiers, EQ's, cabinets, and effects producing something unique on every track. I didn't regret not sticking to the script.

Some folks think of me as a gearhead because of my experience with SWR. Well, yes, I know gear, and SWR gets my vote nine times out of ten (as you'll see below), but sometimes you just gotta try something different. You'll note that only the electric bass tunes are listed here; all of the solo acoustic pieces were done direct, with a couple of mikes in the room for depth. The rest are listed below, in glorious detail.
