I'm sad to say that I can't remember when I recorded this, but I know it was either in January of 1999 or September of 2000. I'm also sad to say that I'd never heard this famous Kinks tune before, so I wasn't really sure of the vibe of the original version when I tracked it (on very short notice, of course). I'm even more sad to say that, as of yet, I haven't heard the final version, because I don't own the CD. Major thanks to Brian Czako and John Willcoxon for filling me in on the dirty details and providing cover art so I could complete this entry.

I'm not sad to say that this recording was done in a most un-Steve-Vai like fashion—I burned nearly all the way through one pass, and we ended up barely editing it at all. It's a simple song, really, and an odd but interesting choice of tunes for Steve Vai to cover. Something tells me there will be plenty of odd, interesting things to come on subsequent recordings from Steve Vai's 10-CD box set, The Secret Jewel Box. (He's staggering the ten releases out, you see, over a period of undetermined length. For more info, check out his website.)
