If you were a student at
Berklee College Of Music, getting on this CD was A Very Big Deal.
The project leader was a kid named Brian Preston, who at the time
was very into Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. In other words, I had a
license to slap, and I overplayed about as much as one bassist can
in four minutes. It was a nice ego boost at the time. And yes, I
had an Alembic during my early Berklee years, and it was criminally
easy to play.
Brian Preston, from what I hear, went on to become
a big-time jingle producer in Atlanta, and has more money than he
knows what to do with. If only I'd known.
